Since registering with DEA local I have received 3 inquiries, which resulted in 3 EPCs.

Well done Manuel for all your efforts.   The public using this site will not only find a competitive price for the Energy Performance Certificate they need ( required by law for both the Rental and Sale of properties), but the Prompt, Friendly Service that they will get from using a Local Independent DEA.

In the current property market down-turn Domestic Energy Assessors are struggling to earn a living. With Websites such as DEA local to help the public find their local DEA and www.ProDEA.org.uk  to help support the DEA in their work; hopefully we can look forward to 2009 being a better year.

Thats my 3rd job from DEA local - no fuss, no promises, just a good lead and up to me. I'm a member of IDEA and DCHI but the I guess its DEA local thats delivering the work

Just wanted to put into black and white how useful this site has been over the past couple of days. I have had calls from 3 major rental firms who needed a DEA and googled DEA and the location they wanted, my name came up third on the first page thanks to this web site. I had 9 appointments on Fri, 6 on Sat, 2 Sun, 6 today and 5 booked for tomorrow.

Manuel, you deserve some heart felt thanks for all the work you have done, i have been one of those that have not shown any interest for a while, i am a converted DEALocal support. Thanks again

I registered with dealocal about a month ago, and got my first instruction last week, 5 minutes from my home, in East London, felt really good to get the first 1 out the way, and am looking forward to doing the next one, thankyou dealocal.

I have just received my second enquiry as a result of DEAlocal, which looks like I may get a few EPC's from a local developer over the next few months, and he is also going to pass my details on to some of his business associates (so fingers crossed). 

His comments were that I was much more competitive than his letting agent (who is obviously creaming off the top), and I believe my prices to be realistic not cut-throat!  Hopefully, with the 1st October fast approaching more enquiries will come for all of us.

I had an email request sent the other day asking to quote for an EPC. I rang the client, got on well and eventually managed to secure the complete HIP (although I employed a local solicitor to do the legal work) - which allowed me to charge a reasonable rate - as opposed to what the pack providers offer.

 This was the third email request via DEA Local I had received this year - two of which resulted in work for me.

It's taken me three months to do it but today I received a request to produce an EPC, I gave a quote and got the job so thank you DEA Local.

I have recieved 3 jobs through DEA local. Had to do them for well under my normal rate but they are welcome none the same.

May I say 3 more than from any of the HIP pack suppliers I registered with.

This is just to say, no sooner than I post my first blog complaining about no work and no money and having spent up trying to get a exclusive patch with a HIP provider who still has not passed work over as yet.

I got a call direct from a member of the public who wanted a full HIP. I had to be competitive but it was local and got the job. The client did not get my name from the providers marketing or my web site www.epcservice.co.uk but from DEAlocal.

A big thank you Manuel and hope there's more to come and also for your efforts trying to sort an old fools text links for his website. I will be back to you on that one soon.

Hi Manuel, my name is Jack Chawawa operating inYorkshire area. I think I may have recieved some interest from the DEA local directory but Im not 100% sure if it was DEA local or the 'small business' directory.

As a result I have had 20 surveys since April 2008 and I have been promised some 200 to do before 1 October 2008. These are all rental accommodation which I beleive is where the market is and not the house sale market - but I may be wrong these are only my experiences. 

12 months after passing my DEA exam, almost to the day, I recieved a call from a local solicitor quoting the DEA Local website. With that call and some other avenues I've been busy since and would like to take the time to thank Manuel for all his hard work (though I am sure he has help).

This is a truly brilliant site and it is great to find someone who is taking the time to make the world a better place without trying to use Energy Assessors as a source of income!

I have been pleased to receive a number of enquiries regarding the provision of an EPC and have carried out one just a few days ago as a result of a lead from DEA Local for a couple who are compiling their own HIP.

I hope to get a few more as a result of the further enquiries I have received recently. In a tough market you seem to be able to attract business leads to your site and to the DEA's that are registered. I can thoroughly recommend this portal to all DEA's. 

I GOT 4 INTERESTED SO FAR, AND GOT 1 JOB OUT OF THAT.
I GUESS TOO MUCH COMPETITIONS OUT THERE.

The sad thing is, that the Accreditation Companies, HIP Providers and Panels making good money out of this, not we DEAs. HIP Providers squeezing the DEAs, because the required documents for the HIP has a standard prize, so they saving on us, and they pay less and less for our work.

Thats why website like yours are important, and just another opportunity to get some work in, for a more decent pay.

So far I have received one telephpone enquiry - a young lady requesting information on the EPC process and it's pricing.  I provided full details although she was hoping her estate agent would pay for the EPC.

I have received 2 enquiries so far, 1 became a job (Guy putting his own pack together) Unfortunately this is the only job so far. But without Dealocal total would be Zero. Seems to me the only people who are making money are Trainning and Accreditation bodies!

I've had referrals to my website which have emanated from DEAlocal, but no direct contacts or work. Most of my current work is for HIPs via my own website. However I think DEAlocal is extremely worthwhile, and a valuable source. Let's hope the lettings market offers more opportunites.

I think the DEA Local site is great and I very much appreciate the efforts Mauuel has put into the site.  It is very important that DEAs communicate, and exchange ideas, feedback and suggestions.

I have yet to receive any queries at all but the market is particularly depressed in my locality and I maintain my optimism for the future whilst continuing to seek a variety of possible sources of work.

To date I have recieved 2 enquiries as a result of DEAlocal, which considering the market at present offeres slight hope.  Work generally is very slow, and it would seem that 'pack providers' have stiched up the market as far as EPC's are concerned.

I did get one job in March from a local directory which might have been DEAlocal or localsurveyorsdirect who I am also signed up with. I also got an enquiry in April which didn't translate into work. 

I understand that nationally there is an increase in individuals commissioning EPCs and HIPs rather than relying on estate agents or solicitors to arrange but at the moment I am not getting these commissions.

I am now able to provide a HIP at £250.

I was rather sceptical whether anyone would look for a DEA online but I must admit I was wrong. I’ve already had one enquiry form a local homeowner and also one job through a solicitor who contacted me through DEA Local.

He used the site as he was in another part of the country and needed and EPC doing on a flat in my area. (Twickenham). My quote was accepted and the job completed to everyone’s satisfaction.

I had 1 enquiry directly from DEA Local but it was just a time waster trying to see how much it cost - Found out there are over 600 DEA's in the West Mids alone so there's the reason!!!

I haven't had a SINGLE job and neither have any of my course mates its just too many people chasing too few opportunities

The majority of my epc's have come from "The Energy Portal" with one confirmed and one enquiry from the web DEALocal, however, like all other DEA's work is very difficult to gain and with the market downturn, is not looking good.

My name is Malcolm Dudack, and I operate Axcel Home Inspections, we are Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) and Home Information Pack (HIP) providers in the Northern Home Counties and Essex areas.

I have had several enquiries through DEA Local and I do consider my  'posting' to be a useful resource.

I have managed to get a contrat with a search company called Pali, but with the competition so hard i have only had one hit.

I am still waiting and hopefully with the rental market looming things may look brighter.

Unfortunately I have yet to receive a job through DEAlocal. This in no way reflects the exceIlent web-site, obvious enthusiasm and abilities of Manuel. I  also have not received any work from any other source in over two weeks.

I guess with 12000 of us, more being trained all the time, agents reluctant to change DEA once they are set up, sellers wary of cheaper deals with a private DEA or HIP arranger, the housing and economic market dead in the water, what else can we expect!

The lucky DEAs are the ones that got in early last year, before the rush! Some panels are offering £43 per job (eg Vibrant), The Energy Portal has dropped from about £60 to £45.

My plumber gets £30 for call-out and the first hour and £30 for part of any hour afer the first. My mower man charges £17.50 per hour plus petrol (well he used to, I can't afford him now I'm a DEA)! When they are done, they goes home, all finished.

We have to flog out field sheets, sketches, boiler sources, calculate ares, wall types etc etc, uploading, formatting photos etc.  And pay annual fees of £400+, keep training up to date, be assessed etc, We have been duped! I think I'll try plumbing.

At present i have had one or two calls from DEA local and have carried out one EPC so one is definately better than none, i believe with the rental market on the horizon it will become even more useful.
