Dear DEA,
I hope you enjoy reading the features in this DEAlocal eZine issue.

“EPC Quote widget” feedback
For the last month we've been testing the “EPC Quote widget”, I'm glad to say that after some fine-tuning it seems to be working well.
If you’ve received and email from DEAlocal.co.uk with the subject “EPC quote request from DEAlocal” then you were one of the first ones enjoying the benefits of this new feature and I hope you got the job as a result of the quote request.
If you miss our last issue you still can read the whole story at www.dealocal.co.uk/hip/epc-quote-widget.htm
The first month we've sent you more than 100 "EPC quote requests" and we were only in beta-test phase. What I mean is that we didn't promote it at all or link to it from every page in the site (as I will soon do). Once I start promoting it a bit, I expect that the number of quotes will raise fast.
Please don't forget to Post your Testimonials here - I think that if you've got a job thanks to our new “EPC Quote widget” . . . it deserves a testimonial, doesn't it? After all you are getting customers from DEAlocal at no charge at all. Isn't it the least you could do for us?
To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed in some of you, after over 100 quote requests NOT A SINGLE ONE of you has been able spare a minute and give us a testimonial at all :-( I know exactly who gets or doesn’t get quote requests)
Exchanging Links between DEAs
There is now a page at DEAlocal, to find DEAs that are interested in exchanging links between websites.
Find link partners at www.dealocal.co.uk/private/link-exchanges.htm this is a private access page and therefore you'll be asked to log-in.
I know, many of you aren't convinced about this "exchanging links idea", probably worried that you could lose some customers through those links . . . let me tell you that I understand your concerns, however there is a way of doing it that you don't have to give up a single customer at all.
- I'm writing a Blog post so you can learn how to do it the right way, don't miss it here in our next issue -
In the meanwhile, for the ones that already know the power of link Networking (properly done), go an leave your details at www.dealocal.co.uk/private/link-exchanges.htm and soon you'll start receiving link swaps requests from other members.
You can also find a link reading "Links Exchange" on the Top-left corner at DEAlocal.co.uk once you are logged-in.
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Non-dwellings: A guide for building owners, landlords and tenants
Recently CLG (Communities and Local Government) released "A guide for building owners, landlords and tenants"
Don't forget to download a copy (from this link) for yourself, as well as telling all your interested customers where they can download their own copy too.

Question on a Bad Debtor
DEA Carl McGrath from Lancashire had a problem with a customer who was avoiding him at paying time. Hopefully you won't need the advice I gave him, however learning what he knows now, you may save yourself a headache or in the worst case scenario you would know in advance what steps to take . . . I'm glad to inform you that Carl finally got paid :-)

Good Advice for struggling DEAs by Stuart White
DEA Stuart White from Hertfordshire left some very wise advice in a comment. I know that it's seems very obvious, but sometimes the simplest things can be missed because we are looking for more complicated solutions.

Add a link from your website to your Business Listing to improve your Search Engine Results
I’ve just published a Blog post on how can you improve your Business Listing Search Engine Page Results for DEAs who already has a website (soon I’ll write one for DEAs without a website).
If you have a website don’t miss this Blog post, you would regret it. There are already many DEAlocal business listings showing in Top 10 Google results pages and they could easily get a Top 1 with little effort.

No More Training?
Whilst appreciating that sites such as DEAlocal need to generate revenue to exist - usually from advertisers.
Am I only the only one that sees a discrepancy between the state of the profession (too many DEAs, cut prices) and accepting advertising from companies offering to train even more DEAs?
Not sure that's really what we need at the moment let alone the ethics of some of these training companies (they know who they are!).
no more training
DEAlocal does NOT advertise any DipDEA course
Strasz, I completely agree with you.
That is why DEAlocal does NOT advertise DipDEA courses.
If by any chance you (or anyone) sees an advert for a DipDEA course please forward the details (ad text and url) to me ASAP so I can filter it out too. I keep monitoring them but it is possible that I miss some from time to time.
As far as I know, DEAlocal is the only one not advertising them and therefore I don't think it'll make a huge impact. (Am I the only whose principles are more important than income ... ?)
What I've done is publishing a Blog post trying to warn anyone about Energy Assessor Training , it would help if as many people as possible link to this article at www.dealocal.co.uk/domestic-energy-assessor/becoming-a-dea.htm , please spread the word and post a link.
